(Rapini, sausage and goat cheese on toasted rosemary garlic bread @ Sanguiccio)
I think I may have fallen in love at lunch time - not with a person but with Sanguiccio Cafe. As soon as I stepped into the Preston Street shop I felt the world slow down a little. People were sitting and chatting with beautiful looking coffees ,the owner was behind the bar creating a sandwich masterpiece - which was giving off an incredible aroma. I knew at that moment I could easily spend hours in here drinking coffee, chatting and eating whatever sandwich creation was put in front of me. But, I had a hungry boyfriend who was eagerly waiting his weekly sandwich delivery so I sat down at the bar and ordered.
I ordered the lamb sandwich for the boyfriend and it smelled amazing. I had the opportunity to sample the lamb and it was very tender and juicy, I almost wanted to switch my sandwich order. For myself, I ordered the rapini, sausage and goat cheese - a combination I have never had in a sandwich! When I bit into it and I tasted all of the flavours combined with the toasted Art Is In rosemary garlic bun - sandwich heaven. When you bite into the sandwich you can taste the care and detail that went into making it.
Sanguiccio is one of my favorite sandwich shops in Ottawa. I love the care and the attention to detail that goes into creating the sandwiches. I also love that I can so easily lose track of time in the cafe and forget about the busy world and just enjoy myself. Sandwiches are a bit more expensive, ranging from $6-13, but worth it considering what you get. I'm looking forward to trying it again and seeing other sandwich creations!
