(Plenty of classic deli sandwich offerings at Brian's Butchery)
Last week I enjoyed a vegan Sandwich Thursday, this week I take it to the other extreme and go to a butcher for my weekly indulgence. Brian's Butchery is a little known shop on Cobden Road off of Iris Street in Ottawa's west end - better described as being behind IKEA, close to the Ottawa Citizen offices. They are known in the food community for their attention to detail, incredible passion and their (special request only) 35 day dry aged steaks but they should also be known for their simple but delicious deli sandwiches.
There are two types of sandwiches available at Brian's - a simple one meat deli sandwiches served with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and mustard on a kaiser bun or a meat combination served with the same toppings on an Art-is-in panini. It's a simple sandwich, you won't find different types of mustard or flavored mayonnaise here, but because it's done well and with care you get a perfectly toasted panini that tastes delicious for a great price - $5.99.
If you work in the area or find yourself in the area you should stop by Brian's Butchery and see what the latest specials are and if it's around lunch time treat yourself to a panini. It beats frozen meatballs anyday.
