I was 24 the first time I travelled outside of Ontario/New York State.
When I was younger my parents took me on short day trips to go cross border shopping in Ogdensburg or Massena but we never ventured far or did anything out of our comfort zone. My first vacation with my boyfriend to New York City. I will never forget the first time we drove through Times Square; I struggled to take it all in - my face couldn't get closer to the window.
I grew up eating meat and potatoes, Hamburger Helper and Kraft Dinner.
Growing up I was on a steady diet of boxed and frozen foods. For a treat we'd order pizza or go to Swiss Chalet where I would butter my roll and dunk it into the cup of Chalet Sauce for the truly gourmet experience. It was at Beckta where my taste buds were changed, where I sampled an amuse bouche of watermelon and salmon, an oxtail ragu and foie gras. I still love Chalet Sauce but have learned that exploring new and different foods can be very rewarding.
I want to experience more!
I may be employed as a blue collar worker but I have high aspirations to travel the world and experience everything! This is my personal journal recounting my discoveries in food, drink, travel and sport I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I've enjoyed writing them.
I've experienced a lot since I originally started blogging (December, 2009 if you can believe it). Here are some of my favourite posts:
- Drank: Wine @ Sandbanks Estate Winery (Wellington, ON)
I was part of a contingent of bloggers invited to #indulgePEC. Indulge I did but I also learned the hospitality of Prince Edward County. - Drank: Extreme Beer at Dogfish Head Brewery (Milton, DE)
A roadtrip with great friends to one of the most extreme brewers in the United States? Yes please! - Attended: Behind the Scenes with Parks Canada Heritage Gourmet App
I was invited to see historic recipies be recreated. I really loved the Moose Muffle Soup.
Oh, and I love Twitter and Facebook. Why not follow me to see what I'm currently up to?
